Hello:
I am currently on an H1-B in the US, and recently has my application for permanent residence approved. As you can imagine, I want to land ASAP. This will be a soft landing, and I will move permanently once I find a job in Canada, or if my company moves me there.
With that said:
1. I will continue to have income in the US and will visit Canada on weekends till I move.
2. I want to do my landing either in december of 17 or jan 18
My questions
1. Are there any tax implications of landing in different calendar years?
2. If I continue working in the US for all of 2018, will I need to pay tax in Canada?
Thank you all for reading, and in advance for your replies.

No, unless you have income made in Canadian soil. You are recommended to file return for 2017 if you land in 2017, but if you didn't make any money in Canada, you won't pay any tax. You have to report foreign income in Canada tax returns, but because of tax treaty between the two countries, you will get tax credit back for amounts you obliged to pay in US and will not be double-taxed. It's sometimes a good idea to hire an accountant specializes in US/Canada tax laws
