Hi All,

I am on a work permit here in Canada since December 2015. I lost my dad in 2015 and my mother is living alone there.

As such , I applied for my mothers visitor Visa in Jan 2016 and April 2016. Both attempts were denied with the following reasons :

Attempt 1. I am not satisfied that you have sufficient funds to carry out your status purpose in going to Canada or to maintain yourself in Canada.

Attempt 2. You have not satisfied me that you would leave Canada at the end of your stay as a temperorary resident

Note that my mother doesn't have any Travel history. We showed property ties in India and expressed evidence that I would be bearing all the cost and expenses.

I am desperate to get it right 3rd time . Please advise how I should go about now .

Thanks
Pavan

Hi,

As you have correctly said, you cannot apply for a super visa for your mom.

1. How long did your mom want to visit?

2. What were the documents which she submitted?

3. What ties can she show: Property (is it rented?), any dependent family members, financial situation (even though you will support her visit), is she employed/business?

Cheers

If your mother has no travel history, you want to be requesting a 2-3 week visit only. Anything longer will make it look like she is attempting to live in Canada or stay long term. Good luck.

Thanks for the replies.

1.In the first invite letter , I mentioned the period of stay as few months. I corrected this in the 2nd attempt and shortened the intended period of stay.
2.We showed our property papers of India , bank statements of my parents , my Canadian salary slips and bank statements, my invite letter
3. The property is ours. I am the only child and my mother is a housewife. But we showed significant funds (bank statements) of my parents in addition to my canadian salaray slips and bank statements.

if I request for 2-3 week visit , will the visa be granted only for the 2-3 weeks?

No, minimum should be 6 months regardless of whatever you mention

Did you request the notes of the officer the second time around?

Ordering GCMS notes in this case may not help much. I'm pretty sure the notes would state that the OP's mom has weak family ties (hence, likely to overstay her visit) because the OP is an only child/his or her dad has passed away

Bryanna,
What is the solution for him?

To the OP:
Is the property owned by you and your mom? Or owned by your mom and dad? Has this property been transferred legally to your mom? Did you submit valuation papers?

Is the property rented? If yes, is the rent agreement in your mom's name and is the rent credited to her bank account?

Can your mom show some reason to return because of this property? For example, to attend a housing society meeting or if she is a member of the Managing Committee? Any other such reason?

Did you transfer any funds to your mom's bank account shortly before she applied? Hope you included her ITRs?

Can she prove that she must return to claim some benefits (your dad's pension if it's the case) or for some other legal/financial matter related to the assets owned by your dad?

Is your mom involved in any charity or volunteer work?
