Okay, so I moved to Canada from the U.S. last year to live with my husband and my mother came with me for a visit. We crossed over in a car but arrived late at night (The weather was very bad and it was in North Dakota and there were no hotels for hundreds of miles, so we had to keep driving until we got there). We were informed that there was no one there that could do a visitor intake/inspection or whatever it's called, so we had to wait for several hours at a gas station. We slept in the car and then went back at 8:00am and were eventually allowed across the border... It was my mother's first time to Canada, so we had to go through the whole lengthy interview process.

She left Canada later last year and returned for a visit this weekend but had trouble at the airport because they said that the man that we initially talked to at the border crossing in ND, the one that told us to come back a little later when there was an officer on duty that could do my mother's interview/paperwork, red flagged her in the computer as having been refused entry into Canada.

He went on to explain the situation but she has been red flagged as having been refused entry nonetheless. The immigration officials at the airport admitted that this was stupid, that the man at the border crossing shouldn't have done this, but said that there wasn't anything that he could do about it and that it WOULD cause her problems in the future.

Is there any way to go about getting this red flag removed? My mother left when she was supposed to and only just returned after returning to the U.S. for 6 months... She has followed all of the rules and done nothing wrong. We plan on applying for a super-visa for her at a later date and don't want this to cause us any problems.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

you will need to complaint against the officer to CBSA...I found this form to complaint against the CBSA online...I would say do the complaint under your mother's authorization or make her do the complaint..would be better..

I wonder if there would be merit in applying for GCMS and seeing what has been documented there. You can request that notes be amended if the material is incorrect. It is incredibly frustrating facing a situation like this, especially when it is so difficult to resolve a problem that is not of your making. Good Luck.

You will find on the second page, a post from SenoritaBella with details on how to get GCMS notes corrected. Hope it helps.
