I'm planning to apply for PR as FSW from Guatemala, but I got a mortgage for my house 2 years ago. I still have about 20 years to go with this debt.

I intend to keep paying this mortgage from Canada. Am I eligible to send my application while having this local debt?

Dear, as long as you have enough flow of funds in your account meeting the funds requirements of CIC there wouldn't be an issue. However, if you became a bank defaulter by not paying due installments then there could be a major issue.

By viture of lien/mortgage, banks reserve the right to sell property and claim their dues first and if any amount is due to you, will send to your mailing address, if you defaulted. You may want to be clear of your country legalities as well, under your own circumstances.
