Hi All,
I have been a PR since 2015, and have sent my card for renewal in June 2021. As is evident from the thread, the processing times are really long and have been affected by Covid. I have met all my residency obligations (presence in canada, taxes paid). I have also sent web form requests to ask about my application but nothing has been replied yet.
I am applying for a mortgage through a broker for a new house, and everything has gone well, I even have the approval, but to process and provide me the loan, they are asking for a valid PR card. I mentioned that I have already applied for the new card, but due to covid there is significant delay in me getting the card. I still have a valid SIN number that would prove my residency. But they are a little adamant about the valid pr card. I shared the cic links with them too, mentioning expired PR card does not mean expiry in status. They said you might run into issues with legal later when you're closing the house too because of the expired card.
Can anybody please advice what I should do now? I really am a little sad that after all my credit checks, and down payments and offer getting accepted, the expired PR card is the roadblock, which is something totally out of my control at this point?
