Many new immigrants are looking for survival jobs. It could be the easy job.

Hi,

One of my friend's daughter, Mass Communication graduate with few years experience, ( family recently landed on PR in Ontario) could not find a job in couple of months. No other choice, she took the chance in Tim Hortons. Unfortunately, cleaning the area (including toilets), turn by turn, also is a part of her job!!!. She is searching the net for other options.

Guys, a critical question does impose it self in here; Are you prepared to clean toilets once you're granetd PR in Canada as a skilled worker?

My answer CERTAINLY NOT! not that I belittle those who clean them, on the contrary, I respect them emensely. But I see it hard with more then 20 years experience in my field to resort to such profession

Please provide your honest, non biased opinion about this.

When contemplating immigration to a new country, you have to be realistic about your job opportunities. Look for jobs on the web, even contact employers to find out what chances you have. If you can afford it, go there, arrange interviews and try to get the feel for how easy or hard it will be for you to get a job when you arrive. Inspite of education and experience, some people will not be able to get a job in their field. Maybe their is no shortage of people in their profession in Canada, maybe Canadian employers do not trust their education or experience, maybe their English isn't good enough. You have to have a plan for what you will do if that happens to you. Will you sit at home until your savings run out or will you take a job cleaning or the like, hoping to find something better? Every month you don't work brings you further away from your past job experience. If you wait too long, you may become unemployable in your field. Will you go back to college and re-train or get a job in a different field entirely. This is definitely something you need to think about before you move. It would be better to get a job before you go if possible. If not possible, it's worth considering to go alone and leave your family at home until you have gotten settled.

Boss2009 (Aag Lagake chala gaya).... What/Where is the proof, did Boss2009 read in some news paper or MCDonalds uncle told him/her. I guess it never happen before in Canada even to USA. working in the MCDonald or some Cafe/fast food places people get easily jobs in canada. Dera Mohit ,

Which exam are you talking about , kindly try and research about your profession , if you work in a regulated profession ( almost every prof worth mentioning is a regulated profession , even a cook is a regulated profession ), then you have to get yourself a licence before even you become eligilble for a interview....., dont fool yourself about being a FSW otherwise you will get a shock when you land there..

This happened in toronto , ontario and it is happening everywhere , in every city :)-

Dear Omm ,

How i wish you are right.

Try and find out about the situation in the last 1 years , i think you have info that is 4-5 years old.

I am not here to discourage anyone , i myself will go.

Just pray to god that iam wrong and things improve
