I (Canadian citizen) am applying to sponsor my husband (US citizen). The very last piece of information we were waiting on before sending our application was the FBI security check. My husband finally received it in the mail today, but it mistakenly states that he was born in the Netherlands. He was born in Nebraska (USA). This is confirmed by his birth certificate. We really want to send this application off, and waiting for another FBI check is going to take at least another week or two. Should we redo the FBI check now, or submit it as is? Could they return the application to us because the FBI made a mistake?

Write to the FBI about this. I once had them make a mistake on a criminal check, and a very helpful gentleman there gave me his personal address to send it back to him, and he completed the check and mailed it back the same day he received it from me.

You have to get police certificates from every state where you lived for more than 6 months since turning 18. This is in addition to the FBI certificate.

I know, it's a pain with the state certificates. I had to get 2, though fortunately they were both very, very quick processes
"Minor" is extremely subjective; you'd have to give us exact details before anyone could get an idea.

Yeah I can see how "minor" can be skewed a number of ways.... Here is the record:
* 2005 Class B Misdemeanor- Issuing a bad check- Terminated in favor of the accused
* 1995 Disorderly Conduct, Sentence Conditionally Discharged
* 1995 Class C Misdemeanor- Driving Under the Influence(reduced from DWI)-Discharged
By the way, my FBI report says nothing about Netherlands but I discovered that the NY police report that I received today DOES have my place of birth as New York, Nebraska and Netherlands.

By way of an update, I called the CIC call centre and the agent I spoke to said that we could submit the application with the incorrect FBI report as long as we included a letter explaining the error and as long as there was other documentation proving his real country of birth (ie. birth certificate). He told us that we would have to contact the FBI to have the error corrected, and then send the corrected report to CPC-M once we received it.
