Mistake in Police Clearance Certificate

Hello,

I submitted my PR application and am expecting an Acknowledgment of Receipt (AOR) next month. At the time of submission, I included a police clearance certificate (PCC) from Qatar that expired last month. I have since obtained a new PCC from Qatar, but it contains an error regarding my place of birth.

Although I am Sudanese and was born in Saudi Arabia, the certificate incorrectly lists Sudan as my place of birth, and this field is written only in Arabic. All my other details—name, nationality, passport number, and Qatar ID—are correct and written in English.

I had noticed this error on the first certificate, and when reapplying, I contacted the embassy to request a correction. They advised me to include the request in my application letter along with copies of my passport and birth certificate, which I did. Unfortunately, the new certificate still contains the same error.

When I reached out to the embassy again, they suggested submitting the certificate as it is. If IRCC raises any concerns, the embassy would issue a letter explaining that this is a clerical error, although they mentioned it could take up to three months to issue a corrected PCC.

After consulting with a friend familiar with the process, I learned that this issue cannot be corrected by the PCC department alone. The data originates from Qatar’s immigration system, and I would need to have it corrected there before a new PCC can reflect the correct details.

Now I am not sure what to do because submitting to IRCC with the current mistake could cause delays or even rejection. Also the getting the issue fixed will take a-lot of time. Any thoughts ?

Note that the PCC has my current passport number and in my older passport (when I was a qatar resident) all have the correct country of birth. So its kinda of obvious that this is just a mistake.

My medical report incorrectly listed Canada as the passport-issuing country, and the doctor cannot correct it. I found this error one month after my AOR and raised a webform to explain. I passed my medical without issue. So maybe you can submit it and explain it in a webform.
