According to the CIC website as quoted below, there shouldn't be any in-land applications going to Mississauga.

"5. Mail the application and documents.

The application kit has the address you need for mailing your application to the Case Processing Centre (CPC) in Mississauga, Ontario (for family members living outside Canada) or CPC in Vegreville, Alberta (for family members living inside Canada). "

I think the processing time to AIP is shorter for out-land applications (via Mississauga) because that office is processing only to AIP. For many of the in-land applications there are other parts to them like requests for visa extensions or Open Work Permits etc that slow down the process.

Yes Bundori, it's off to Vegreville for your application.

Do you know that you can apply for an Open Work Permit when you submit your application? I understand there's a process for in-land applications where if you do that, it's possible to receive the OWP when you receive AIP. That way you could at least starting working then and not have to wait until the rest of your immigration application is complete.

I'm afraid I don't know more about it but I understand the forms can be downloaded from the CIC website and maybe a more senior member can give you more information.

I think AIP is taking around 6-7 months at the moment, with varying times to PR after that. I've seen a few postings with PR in just a few months so you never know but I guess it depends on what's in your application (strength of evidence, number of countries you've lived in etc).
