Hi,

I'm applying for permanent residency through common law with my Canadian girlfriend.
It is requested that I scan my passport showing personal details PLUS the page showing the stamp of my last entry to Canada, this is where my issue appears - I have not received a stamp in my passport either of the last 2 times I entered Canada (I'm from Sweden in case that matters).

What can I do?
I live pretty close to the border so I could drive to the US and return to Canada immediately and make sure they stamp? I still have 18 months on work permit.

Thanks,
Tommy

Not necessary. Just include a letter of explanation stating you did not receive a passport stamp on your last entry. This is very common.

Hi I read somewhere that recently they don't stamp on your passport.

I entered in Canada last October and this February. I didn't have stamp on my passport either. I have a Chinese passport and it was in Vancouver airport.

I was worried last time when I applied my work permit about the miss stamps and many people said they didn't have stamps either.

When you enter Canada, i have never received a stamp on my passport but i remember you are asked to fill a form that you drop off at the airport......i guess the purpose is for immigration and the govt. agencies to keep a record of who comes into Canada........so i would say in your application, include a note to explain why you don't have a stamp and don't think you will have any problem........GOOD LUCK

Generally if no stamp in passport that implies a default stay for visitors of 6 months. Whether leave or not depends how honest someone is but ignorance of the 6 month rule just because of no stamp would not be a defence.

Hey I'm in the same situation. Could you please explain what u did? Did you write a letter and include evidence for your entry?

This is what everyone in this thread has said to do, yes. Stamps at the airport are not always given. Just state when you arrived and that you did not receive a stamp, in an explanation letter.

Thank you so much! Makes me feel better to know that this is not a isolated situation. Annoying tho.

I can understand, but as an example, I don't get stamps in my passports from a lot of places (Hong Kong, Macau, US, Mexico). Makes it an adventure.

It's not fun when immigration asks for entry stamps . Then you have to look for all your tickets , write letter of explanation. Honestly I don't know why they ask for it, assuming they have access to border records. But I agree traveling is fun

I always forget that sarcasm doesn't carry well in the online world. I end up with the same problems as you, needing to prove exit/entries to the same people who didn't stamp my passport. But it's just something we have to deal with.
