I missed the email communication from Los Angelese office for submitting my passport on 25-June.
I went to India on 26-June and came back on 25-Jul because of a medical emergency related to my father. After I came back, I checked my email on 26-June midnight and saw this communication about submitting my passport, by which time I had already crossed their 30 day deadline.
I got the letter for submitting Police Clearance Certificate & Medicals on 26-March by post and it had said that they will look at my case in 120 days and I should not communicate with them for the next 4 months. So I was in an assumption that they will look at my application on 120th day post which they will send a letter asking for passport. I had given keys to a friend to keep checking my mailbox for any letter from their office, but they had sent this information by email which I missed.
I have immediately sent them an email explaining my situation and stating that it would not have been possible for me to send my passport from India and be back at my workplace in Canada within 4 weeks.
Please advise, what should be my next step and what could I expect. Are they very strict about the 30 day rule?
