Hi i am filipina who is currently working as a Live in Caregiver here in canada and soon to apply permanent residency. This is my problem, 2010 i got my Lmo and contract then submitted to canadian embassy manila. Never heard from embassy so in feb 2011 i got married with the bristish citizen. May 2011 i recieved notice from and sent me those form to filled up same form that i was submitted to them last 2010 but i still checked single in my marital status. In 2012 me and my husband parted ways coz he lives in england so decided not to change my marital status in my application since i dont have visa yet during that year and i got my visa in 2013. So i landed here as a single. My question is do i still need to inform the immigration here about my marital status since we are in the divorce process now i dont have kids to be sponsored anyway. Is this misrepresentation gonna affect my application for permanent residency in the future? Please help me what to do. Thank you hope to hear soon.

mispresentation in marital status can seriously affect your application. Which is to say, even if you may manage to get your Permenant Residence, they still have rights to withdraw your PR because of it. You may want to write to your visa office to inform your marital status changes.Mslyn said:

Yo got yourself a problem, you have two options, however, both could lead to lose everything.Mslyn said:
1) once you got married you were supposed to Fill the form they sent you with your correct marital status of course you knew that but you still lied in the application, that is how CIC will see, therefore you could get asked more about it and they could deny your application, you are not still divorced which is an extra problem, try to get your divorce papers aSap.
2) you could keep you lie (don't recommend it) and if you get caught you could get your residency denied for misrepresentation and even get banned from Canada for misrepresentation.
Finally I would really recommend to get a lawyer or immigration consultant about your case, it is not easy but you don't want to get in trouble or risk your residency. Play smart
