hi there
i have a certificat of selection of Quebec as a skilled worker I need to send an application in Buffalo for the immigration visas that will allow me to enter canada an get the permanent residency. My question is that I was convicted of a misdemeanor offense back in 2001,named petit larceny in the state of virginia(usa) I paid a $250 fine and did 30 hours of community service. will this crime be a ground for inadmissiblity in canada? will i be denied the canadian visas..thanks for you answers

Hi;

I also had an arrest on my record back in 1995. My advice to you is to be completely honest about what happened on your application. If you have any documents from the arrest I would include them with your application, if you had a lawyer I would ask them to write a letter on your behalf. We did this and have now been waived of even having an interview. We just took our medicals yesterday. Good luck.
