Hello guys,

I am claiming points from my brother who is a resident of Canada. But in his birth certificate and passport, our Dad’s name is missing with a letter ‘i’ which is present in my passport and birth certificate. I believe it’s a minor issue because, apart from that, all other details in our both passports are matching such as name of our mother, address, etc. I need to show this as proving the relation ship between me and my brother.

Similar to such evidence, what other documents could qualify for proving our relationship to the department?

Kindly advice. Thank you.

I think either the birth certificate or passport is sufficient to prove the relationship.

I believe even half siblings are eligible for CRS points - so theoretically, even if they think your fathers are different, you should be okay. But I think this is not a path you would prefer to go down - as it's best to keep things simple. Personally, I would focus on passports and not birth certificates - as they are relatively easy to modify (in my experience with an Indian passport).

So I'm assuming that either you or your brother has your father's right name in their passport. For the sake of discussion, I will assume that your passport has the right name. So I think you have three option (going from easiest to hardest):
1) Get your father to do an affidavit of same person showing both names, and add it to your documentation.
2) Get your brother to fix his passport
3) Have your father change his official name to the "wrong" one - then use that to update your passport

All the best!
