Minor born outside Canada

Hello All,

am a Canadian citizen and just gave birth in the US 8 weeks ago. I want to return to Canada with my daughter to live ASAP but I see processing time for her certificate is 17 months. I see that you can apply for citizenship and passport together and wanted to make sure that is doable. Also as she is 8 weeks I have no US passport for her cause it take approx 3 months so is that basically what I say in the explanation letter for not having no photo ID?
Also on the citizenship app, section 13, is my signature as the parent sufficient enough in box 2 or is there anything else that needs to be done?

When do you plan to return and by what mode of transport?

Because shortest/easiest answer is get your child the US passport and then come to Canada.

Dual citizens can enter using the US passport. Assuming you wish to travel before long, at the border, just tell the border officer the truth, that your child is also a Canadian cit by birth but either you've not filed the applications yet and/or not received them yet.

I don't know the answer if you need to travel sooner than that, again, most likely easiest route is to use whatever process in US to get passport on urgent basis.

If you absolutely cannot get US passport on urgent basis, check with CBSA to see what docs would be needed for US infant to enter Canada. It's possible birth certificate would be enough, don't know.
