Minor accompanying parents work permit needs Visitor Record extension

Hi,

I have a 2 year open work permit and my child accompanied me on this with a visitor record on entry. Unfortunately, his passport was not valid for the full two years and its expiry was July 2017. Therefore his visitor record only allowed him to stay until then.

I have now got him a new passport, how do I extend his visitor record? He is still accompanying me on my work permit.

Am I able to just cross the border and re enter Canada? Will he get a new visitor record then as he is accompanying me?

My work permit is valid until February 2018.
