Dear friends,

me and my wife have a friend who is already in vancouver for 5 years and she is looking for my wife an arranged employer....in the event that she finds an employer for her, we would like to migrate as a family. needless to say i am willing to pay for the costs (we have 3 kids, 18, 13, 7). and we will have the required proof of funds for a family of 5......she is a caregiver and im getting my compTIA A+ (certification for computer technician). my questions is, what is the best option for us to take? I read somewhere that if you have a caregiver arranged employment they dont require that person to take the EILTS anymore....what about the rest of the family, will i have to take it as well? also i have been travelling to different countries since 1993, and i have been coming to thailand since 6 years ago. will i be needed to submit a police clearance from thailand too, or just one from the philippines where i am from....thank you so much in advance to any one who will reply to this.......

Hi! I can only answer about your question reg. police clearance.. Yes you have to get a police clearance from every country your at before especially if you declared that you worked on that country you are obliged to do so.

If you are planning to immigrate here in Canada with your whole family your application is considered as a skilled worker category because your job as a computer technician is one being considered in demand here Canada and in order for you to apply in that category you will need to show proof of your assets and funds and other requirements such taking the EILTS, immigration thru live in caregiver program is quite different from your category wherein a live in caregiver dependants dont need to take EILTS.you need a police clearance from thailand, canadian immigration is very strict on this.if your wife is a caregiver with an arranged employment that would be a great help for all of you when you arrived here in Canada.because finding a job is always a headache for new immigrants.good luck!

It takes a long time for a caregiver to immigrate with a whole family. She will have to go alone and work for 2 years before she can apply for PR. She can apply for you all at that time but it takes another 2 years + to approve the application, see http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm-other.asp

Another way would be for the friend to try to find you an employer who will apply for your LMO so you can get a work permit or give you a job offer and sponsor your immigration through PNP. Then you can immigrate with the whole family right away.
