I’ve heard that, if we apply for study permit today as of june 3rd with GIC paid and full first year fees paid in SDS category but without the medicals, it will be still be considered as NON-SDS even though we did it in SDS category, is this true? And if possible can you provide me some relavant information regarding this. Please help me with this.
Thanks in advance.

You cannot apply under SDS category without medicals since it's one of the requirements when you're answering the questions in the portal. Once you select no to the medical in last 12 months, it will direct you to the non SDS stream.

If you look at minimum criteria in SDS, it states

proof of completion of upfront medical examination from a panel physician for applicants
Note: The medical examination confirmation may be either an information sheet printout, if the physician uses eMedical, or an Upfront Medical Report form [IMM 1017B].
