Today my lawyer confirmed with me that all background checks are done at a later stage after medicals are sent out. My question is, if that is the case then how come I still have not received my medicals? What do they check before they send out medicals?

Seniors, what do you think?

Regards,

Bro,

Though ur lawyer must have a better understanding of the sys than me, I personally think otherwise. Our B/ground checks get over Before CHC issues the meds. Why? Mainly, it would be a waste of time, effort & money for the applicant, as well as of the VO, in case they do the b/g check later, what if the guy fails?

Secondly, in my case I'd been enquiring with CHC all along my apps process; and had been getting their responses towards my file movement, step by step. In one of my emails they replied that my b/g checks were over and they are going to issue the meds. Within a week to that I got my meds.

Again after meds I enquired thrice, once they said it was under final security check. Another time they informed that it is pending SECDEC. The third time I was intimated that it was under final review. Thereafter, I got my PPR.

So, I think the b/g checks are pretty much done before the meds. And after the meds they do only a final secirity check only.

Hope that helps.

Your lawyer is wrong. Backround checks are carried out for the complete duration of the immigration process.

Hi Okshan,
Nice to see you here too. I also believe that background checks will take place before medicals are requested. The validity of your PR visa is equal to that of your medicals. Therefore, if they send you medicals, say, now, and your background checks take longer than expected, you will have to do the medicals again. To avoid this, I believe medicals are requested when the officer is pretty much sure you will get a visa.

As for your special case in Tokyo, I think they are working on it but just are not experienced enough to do everything as expected. I think they even do not know they should enter codes into your file so that you can see ypur status as it goes! Look at the Tokyo office Appendix A! After so many times revision, you still see they are NOT asking for proof of funds and the item regarding university documents is in French! These make me assume you might expect some unusual behavior from their side.

The guy I know, went to the Embassy in person and asked if they have received emails from him. They said Yes, but also said there has been no communications from them and they would contact him if needed. Knowing that some other people have received requests for some additional documents, to be positive, I assume your file was complete and it is under review.

What you are all saying makes sense actually. I also thought the same way as you all do. Just got confused when my lawyer said otherwise but I guess there are no hard rules regarding this and I mean why would they even waste time with medicals if they are not sure about our background check. Anyways hoping and wishing everyone success.

Wpc71,

It's nice to see your comment and encouraging words also. I really appreciate your comments always. So where do you stand in your application? Hope everything goes smoothly.

Immigration lawyers usually do not to tell their clients the very detailed steps of how the application process will go through. For some they would even lie. If its not done with you, in my case they encouraged me to invite friends who are planning to immigrate to Canada to hire their services. If they will tell you all the detailed steps then instead of referring your friends to your immigration lawyer you can easily discourage them to do so and would offer help to your friend as you would find it then very easy after knowing the detailed steps based on your own application. It's business my dear. They wouldnt be immigration lawyers if they don't know that background checks are done before medicals.
