Hi, I am a Canadian PR planning to sponsor my spouse after our marriage in last week of November. I plan to file the sponsorship application around Dec 15th or so.

To be proactive, we already got the medicals done on Nov 1st and the PCC on Nov 5th.

1) Did we get the PCC too early given that I plan to send the application only on Dec 15th as I need time to fly back to Canada after marriage? I heard somewhere that PCC is valid for 3 months only and if NDVO gets to my file only in say, late Feb, then by that time, PCC would have expired right?

Pls advise.

As long as your application is received at CIC before the 3 months is up you'll be fine. Many of our files are long passed the 3 month marker before they are even looked at so I safely assume that as long as it's received in their office before expiration it's fine.

Allura, Thank you,

when you say 'Received in the office', since mine is an outland application, do you mean

1) received in the MISSISSAUGA office
2) received in the NDVO office- this one takes more time, right?

Hi Myrah- thank you for responding.

You did PCC in Jan and you applied in April-Why so late? How did they accept your PCC as when CPC-M received your application the first time, by then itself the PCC would have been more than 3 months old?

On a separate note, I see you are one of the active members on this forum. How is it that you have not received your visa yet? Just curious.

Hi Myrah- thanks again for responding,

I understand lot of 2012 people are still waiting. But I am also seeing 1 among 5 cases who get their visa in 4 months or some in 6 months or some in 8 months.

Do you still maintain that NDVO is now in a 13 month timeline? Pl clarify.

Also Myrah, i see that you applied in April but you got AOR only in June, right? That is unusual given that I am seeing most cases get AOR within 1 month of initially applying to CPC-M.

Hi Allura and Myrah, I have one more question:

In the Spouse questionnaire (which I am filling up for my soon to be spouse whom iam going to sponsor), in question 24, 'Has your sponsor visited you', I am answering that I did visit my spouse for the actual marriage ceremony for 2 weeks.

Then we move to question 27, where they ask 'Have you and your sponsor lived together?', what do we put here? I do plan to live with my spouse after marriage in my parent's house for 2 weeks and then I plan to return back to Canada. Should I put
'yes, sponsor lived with me'
or
since I just was with my spouse for 2 weeks only, should I put
'no, sponsor did not live with me'

Pls advise

You have never 'met' or 'visited' your wife prior to the wedding, Roger? I do believe this is what the question is getting at, however, a lot of cultures would consider this normal. I would answer that yes, the sponsor has visited, and then attach a separate sheet of paper outlining the visit and the details and such.

For the other part of your question, I personally do not feel that staying for 2 weeks after the wedding would qualify as living together. To me, living together would constitute actually setting up a household together and living/managing it as a family unit. My opinion says to answer that question with a no, but someone else might shed some more light on it for you.

Good Luck!

Hi Allura, thank you so much for detailed response.

yes, i visited my soontobe wife once for getting engaged and now the second trip to India is the one in which I am getting married to her and then she will be 'staying' with me in my parents place.

Do you still maintain your opinion that 'No, Sponsor and spouse did NOT live together'.
