Medical shows TB

My husband just completed his medical last week and they just called to inform him that they have to run more tests. He may be positive for TB. I know this is a common issue for the medical exams so can anyone please let me know what the procedure would be in this case? He is going back this week for more tests and hopefully there was a mistake but if it is TB how will this affect the immigration process?

They may have found something on his xray that is an indication of possible TB. They'll ask if he had TB in past medical history and then do a 3 day sputum test, follow up with the doctor.it'll take 2 and 1/2 months before they call him back for follow up. Do an x-ray and then send that to the CHC. I think that's all. It's a precautionary measure. Speaking from experience. Good luck

From what I know, your husband can find himself in one of 3 cases:
1. active TB - they will refer him to a specialist for treatment and call him back for tests after 3 months. Active TB is reason for inadmissibility, but as soon as it is treated according to Canadian standards, the immigration process can continue.
2. inactive TB - your husband will not be declared inadmissible, the immigration process will not be influenced by the result, but he will be placed in medical surveillance after arriving in Canada. That means he will have to undergo regular medical checkups to ensure that his TB does not become active. For that, they will instruct him how and how often he will get in touch with the public health department.
3. Extrapulmonary TB - usually not considered infectious - depends on the assessment done at the RMO if your husband will or will not be put under medical surveillance.

Thank you all for the replies, very helpful.
They (the doctor not CIC) saw something on his xray that made them want to do more tests. He has never knowingly been infected with TB and never had active TB symptoms. I would assume he is not in the active form as he has no symptoms and feels very healthy. He is from India so there is very high chances of exposure there so its very possible he may have the inactive form. Thank you all this put me more at ease as i was starting to worry this would badly affect the immigration process.
