Hello

I was just reading some posts and it's got me a bit worried as I feel I may have overlooked a couple of things.

Is a Medical Report always needed for the CEC track? When I applied in August 2014 I didn't see any mention of this in the checklist and my lawyer didn't mention it either. It's been over 14 months and I haven't heard anything from CIC. I have a BOWP which expires in February and I can't find any info on how/when to apply for an extension and I also read that they are approved on a case-by-case basis. Anybody know what the decision is based on?

Also, I have my police-check certificate ready to send from March, just waiting for them to request it. Any advise on when they are usually requested and how long it takes for a decision once they have it?

Thanks in advance
Amy

CIC will ask you for a medical report at some point, given you meet their eligibility criteria. You might want to get your GCMS notes as you haven't heard anything yet from your application. You should also ask your lawyer to check he is on track!

For the BOWP I think you just apply for a new BOWP, under the same rules as you got your current BOWP (current work permit expires within the next four months and you have an AOR from your PR application). It should not be a problem to get a second BOWP, many people in this forum have had to get a second BOWP because their first one expired before they got PR. You should apply for a new BOWP ASAP as the current processing times are ~four months.

Your police check is already more than six months old. You might as well get a renewed police certificate now and send them the new one.. Depending on where you are from they might not even ask you for another PC but it doesn't hurt to have it at hand if they do.

I do not think you need a new police certificate since CIC has changed the rules recently:

In general, you and all the people in your family who are 18 or older need to get a police certificate. You must get one from each country or territory where you have lived for six or more months in a row since the age of 18. (For example, if you lived in a country for eight months but left on a two-week vacation, that counts as living there for eight months.)

For the country you currently live in, the police certificate must be issued no more than six months before you apply.

For countries where you have lived for six months or more, the police certificate must be issued after the last time you lived in that country.

If your certificate is in a language other than English or French, send it when you apply, along with the original copy of a translation done by a certified translator.

See http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/intro.asp

Also, you can send an email to CPC-CTD-Ottawa@cic.gc.ca and tell them that your police certificate is ready.
After one month or so they will reply you and provide you with an address to send your document.
I did the same several months ago.
