We will be going to Canada to get our PR card issued and we will be there only for 10 days as we still have things to settle in USA. We will be moving permanently much later.
I wanted to know if we need to take an insurance for the period of 10 days that we will be in Canada or not?
Also, what other things do I need to keep in mind?

Thanks!!

If you are in Ontario, then there is a 3 month wait after landing and establishing residency, before you are eligible for OHIP healthcare.

So yes, you will need private travel emergency medical insurance.

It's totally up to you. It's not necessary to have any insurance while staying in Canada, especially if you are planning to stay just 10 days.

While insurance is not mandatory, all it takes is 1 second for something to happen in those 10 days, and you could then face thousands of dollars in medical expenses. Considering the super cheap cost of a basic emergency medical plan, it would be foolish not to get one.

Better safe than sorry! I'd suggest at least $50,000 if you are going for 10 days.

Double check with the province about your eligibility for provincial coverage.

And in case you still need it, shop around or a good plan/
