I am 27 years old, applied for SP almost 2 months ago, and currently stuck at medical admissibility review. I got a medical exam request on 26th April 2021 and completed my medical on 27th April 2021. As per the e-medical report, the clinic submitted exam results on 30th April 2021. Since then no update so far. In my profile medical status is showing We are reviewing the results of your medical exam.

I was born with a congenital heart defect (TGA). For the surgical correction, I had to go through an open-heart surgery when I was 3 months old. Since then I am doing completely fine and doctors not even prescribed any medicines back then. Fast forward to the e-medical report, I saw the physician reported my surgery history in red letters and because of that, the X-Ray grading was B.

Now, I haven't got any additional medical requests, and 26 days already passed since the medical exam. On the IRCC portal, it says that the medical processing time for SP is 30 days. Now, will the heart surgery history be the sole cause for rejecting my SP application?

It shouldn't if you don't need any further treatment. There is a backlog when it comes to review of medicals so there may be a delay.

But my master's classes are going to start on 5th September.

Unfortunately there's nothing you can really do to control how long the processing of the medical might take. You applied well in advance so hopefully you hear something soon. Good luck.

Any update?

Passed the medical on 11 June 2021. It took 45 days for me to pass the medical exam.

Hi bro, May i know that did you got for the medical test with your old medical reports and medical certificate recently taken by your cardiologist ?
Thanks. I was also had open heart surgery for closure of hole in the heart in 2011 and I am applying to spouse work permit since my wife has already approved her study permit.

For me, the surgery took place a long time ago (almost 27 years ago). So, I didn't have all the discharge/ summary papers at the time of medical exam. But told about my situation honestly to the panel physician. Thanks god everything was just fine and they didn't ask for any additional test/ explanation/ expert opinion. However, it took a month for me to pass the medical exam.
