Medical Expiry and Permanent Resident Visa Expiry

One of my friends successfully received permanent residence visa. What I noticed that his visa expiry date matched expiry of his medical exam.

As I plan to submit upfront medical and I heard that it takes CIC to send AOR on average of 90~120 days. So it is likely that 8~10 months would likely be consumed to obtain the visa provided everything go good.

So if this happens then permanent residence visa will have just 2 or 3 months of expiry period?

Anyone having experience with this? Please share.

Hi Kyle_Steve,

It would be better to wait till the CIC request the Medical than you can pass it. It is correct that the visa expiry date matches the expiry date of the medical.

Hi Kyle_Steve and everyone

extra info:

The Visa Expiry Date is related to :
a) 1 Year after the Medical Date or
b) to the Passport expiry date of the Principal applicant or anyone of his/her accompanying Dependents

in general Whichever of the above 2 points is the earliest.

Current processing time is 12 months so unless you are inland applicant its highly advisable not to go for upfront medicals. For inland applicants , CIC "sometimes" accepts request to extend validity of medical results.
