Medical Expiration and Visa

Hello

I recently obtained my Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) along with the visa, with an expiry date of December 7, 2018. However, my medical expiry date is February 28, 2018, one year after the medical exam date. My previous understanding was that I would have to arrive in Canada before my medical exam expired, and the visa expiry date would reflect that date.

The medical validity date on the COPR document also seems to have been extended to December 7, 2018. My question is, can I safely assume that my medical expiry date was extended for unknown reasons, and I don't have to worry about arriving in Canada before February 28, 2018? Please advise accordingly, and let me know if I might need to re-do the medical before December 2018.

Best Regards

It seems like IRCC may have extended you medicals validity. However, if you want to be 100% sure, you may contact your local visa office (the email address is in the PPR email) and ask if the medical validity has been really extended and this is not just an error in the CoPR. Good Luck!

If you have visa why you understand it differently. You dont need a medical but you have to land on or before the date mentioned.

I am in a similar situation. I just received PPR and my medical expired 4 months ago. The PPR email says nothing about the medical. Can I just assume the medical has been extended? Is there any way we can find out if it's been extended ? Thanks!

You Med was probably extended. Once you receive CoPR, your new date would be reflected as your landing before date.

My medical was extended by them for five months from the day they issued my PR visa. Good luck, everyone!
