Hi there folks,

We're still chipping away at our Visa application. We're looking at getting a medical examination and just realised there is a list of Designated Medical Practitioners.

The nearest is London it seems (we're living in Brighton) but the website for one of the two possible doctors has prices for examinations at over 250 pounds.

What have you successful applicants paid and where did you go?
(If it's cheaper to get a train to Birmingham and pay there, we will!)

Thanks!

That's probably about right. My husband's medical was about £200 and we live in Manchester, I think most of the London ones were a bit more expensive. It was around £150 for the medical and then £50-ish for the chest x-rays.

If you will be visiting Canada anytime soon, have it done there. It was half the price I was going to have to pay in the US, and I know that pounds are worth much more than the US dollar. My exam was under 200CDN.

I paid £250 in Cambridge :) I also had to wait about a month for an appointment!

Likewise - we had to wait close to a month for an appointment, especially because the one we went to only did immigration medicals certains days of the week.

No need to go to London!

My son lives in Hastings and had medical at :

Holbrook Surgery, Batholmew Way, Horsham, W. Sussex,
01403 755900

http://www.holbrooksurgery.com/

He got an appointment within a week, it cost him (the latest one last March) £140 plus the cost of blood tests and xrays. NB**

The other one is in Croydon:

141 Brigstock Road, Thornton Heath, Croydon, Surrey,
020 868 41128

http://www.brigstockmedicalpractice.net/brigstock/privateservices/

"We are experienced panel doctors enabling us to carry out emigration medicals for emigration to Canada and New Zealand. We run appointments throughout the working week and on Saturday mornings. For adult medicals prices start from 150 GBP for a Canadian Medical.."

:)

**NB It appears the charge is now £170 plus £58 for the xray (pay at the hospital).

I have paid 247 pounds in london at Dr Clarks (at knightbridge) and 2nd time I've paid 300 pounds in newcastle. I think 250 pounds is ok and cheap.
