Hello,

My question is regarding the medical examination requirements for applying for permanent resident status from outside of Canada.

According to Guide 3999 (Apparently I can't post hyperlinks, otherwise I would like to the guide directly)

A permanent resident visa is issued for a period not exceeding the earliest expiry date of the following documents:

the medical results for you and your family members or
your or your family members’ passport.

I am concerned about the part regarding the medical results expiration.

Since the medical results will expire after 12 months from being issued,
and because the current application processing time for PR from Japan is 12 months,
does it mean we have to take another medical examination again (assuming that the application processing time exceeds the medical results expiration time)?
Or perhaps I am misunderstanding something?

I have searched around the forum and various places around the Internet but could not find any information regarding this matter.

Thank you in advance.

Derek

IF the medical results expire because the processing time is taking longer than a year, then yes you will have to do a re-medical and a remedical request will be sent by CIC to you. But the quoted text is saying something else.

Hello Priya,

Thank you for the information.

I interpreted the quoted text as the VISA only being valid until the earliest of the expiration date of the medical results or passport.

So for my common-law partner who is applying for PR,
her passport expires in 2020,
and let's say her medical examination results expires 1 year from today (9/12/2017),

Once issued, wouldn't the Visa only be valid for entry until 9/12/2017? Or am I mistaken?

Thanks

No, it doesn't mean you will have to take another medical. The app will most likely be done in less than a year anyways but if not, IRCC will probably just extend the medical instead of requesting another one.

Hello , Do you think it is ok to get the Medical exam done outside of Country of residence as per Express entry profile?

The medical can be done anywhere as long as it's with a Panel Physician.

I have read in some forums that travelling to a different country from COR is not advisable. Also you need to tell about any address change or travel to CIC when your application is in progress.

Do you think this will have any affect on the application? If I get my medicals done in US and my spouse gets it done in India.

You can travel wherever you want. You can do the medical wherever you want.

Hi Canuck - can you help me with some queries?

I just received a document on my PR application to submit my passport and pictures to the London office (or AbuDhabi office as the document mentioned) to issue Confirmation of Permanent Residence and permanent residence visa in next 30 days

1- the medical was done 4th Feb 2017, I presume the last day I can land in Canada is 3rd Feb 2018? can it be extended?
2- I cannot find any reference on how long would the CoPR and visa stamping would take once I submit it through the VAC, is there any link that show the timing? if its a 2-3 day process I can submit my passport, if its a 15+ day then I need to ask London office to extend it as I am traveling and cannot leave my passport away except when I am back to the country 46 days from now
3- after getting the visa and landing in Canada, I read that they will send me the card to a canadian address (will give them my brother in law home address) in 180 days, he can then send it to me by courier till i settle my plans to move permanently to canada. with this setup does this mean I just need to land in the airport and I can leave back anytime after that or I have to say for some additional processing?

1. Around that time. No, it can't be extended.

2. You can't find times because they don't exist. It could take a few weeks to a few months.

3. You can land and leave.
