Medical Examination During Pregnancy

Hi Guys,

My wife is the primary applicant and she cannot undergo X-ray due to pregnancy. Is it worthwhile to apply without completing X-ray? Right now doctor has given a note that X-ray cannot be performed and other tests have been completed.

I have read other posts on the forum that the application will be on hold for till X-ray is completed. How long can CIC put the application on hold? I ask because our baby is due after 5 months from now.

We also have a medical for her which is less than 2 years old, any chance CIC may consider that only for the X-ray?

Thanks.

Your whole application is put on hold until your wife completes medical. Medical is valid for 1 year so the less than 2 year old medical has expired. If you wife has 5 months left, it is safe to do an xray after the 3rd month with an apron.

you could either finish the xray now and continue with the application or wait and then pursue the application. by waiting, there will be a delay but you can also add your new baby to the application.

do remember to show additional funds for the new baby

Honestly with 4 month pregnancy the chest X Ray is safe. Your wife will wear a leaded apron to remove any scattered radiation. The radiation dosage used in X ray is safe also for unborn. Normally it is a personal choice.

Your application will be on hold. Once the new guest has joined the family, your worries (And application) are far from over. Medical for the young one and passport, birth certificates etc.

You might consider going for X ray and ask the physician (my brother is a physician and he said there should be no problem with chest x-ray during pregnancy). This way your applicaiton will be moving forward, while the guest is arriving.

Good luck

Thank you guys for your answers. Me and wife will take medical advice from our doctor again to see if we can get an X-ray done.

In case they still advice against it, is it ok to decline the invitation for now and apply later. Hopefully declining will not have a negative impact on future applications.

Thanks.

Don't decline. Just continue application. Even if it is on hold it is better than making a new application. At least there will be some progress.. Discuss with your physician and take their advice. But continue with the same invitation.. Good luck

Thanks Farazafzal.

I was thinking of declining as the current proof of funds document etc is based on two member family and not three. Is the proof of funds required if I have a job offer in Canada? My job starts later this year, but It is based on my work permit that I got due to studying in Canada and no any LMIA was required. I don't know if this kind of offer will count towards proof of funds.

I am really not quite an expert on this issue. If you have job offer you don't need POF, however, with your explanation I can not suggest anything. You may initiate new thread about it to get expert opinion.

I will suggest submit the application and do wife's X-RAY after delivery.
Meantime CIC will finish your check and only wait is for wife's medical report.

I saw few people doing this.

Well I forgot to mention, that you don't have to show additional funds as there is no 3rd person in your profile at the time of submission of profile. You will have to arrange all this once you would like to add him, which I don't see happening until next 6 - 7 months.

Good luck
