Hello,

I am sponsoring my spouse for PR. We received the letter to get the medical done but the closest clinic to us couldn't book until Oct 2, 2018.

I have tried calling the CIC nearly every day I could and ALWAYS get the "sorry we are too busy, call back later" message. I emailed them and their response did not answer my question or address my concerns (the agent literally just copy and pasted the information from the website).

Any other clinic is over 300km away from us (one way) and there is a shortage of doctors where we live so it's unlikely we'd get someone here to do it. This leaves our only option as the Oct 2 date.

Which is far more than 30 days after the letter of request. My question is: are we screwed? I have done everything I could to contact the CIC and received no responses. I mean, what more could I do? We did book for Oct 2 with the doctor and have our confirmation. This doctor also specified that this was the EARLIEST date they were taking PR medical exam appointments.

CIC sent the request August 10 (so we are getting to the end of the deadline).

We sent them an email on August 21 once we realized we could not have it done on time. They just responded today. With the same information provided on their website.

Any help is greatly appreciated. I feel like we have had only issues with them and so far, since we applied in February this year, I have only been able to get through the phones once. And I have tried dozens of times so I am feeling pretty defeated.

Thank you.
Jessica

Is applicant in Canada? or Outland? Any timeline? Prev communications with them?

Did you email them with this whole story or just ask for an extension? They usually don't like to bother when people email them long explanations, just request an extension on the time to provide the medical exam and state that you were unable to make an appointment before the deadline, they should email you back and confirm. Just put medical exam deadline extension in the subject along with your application number, also put your UCI and application number in the email.

In Canada. We live together in Kamloops BC.

Feb 14 application was received.

Background/criminal checks completed and accepted some time in May.

Received 2 year work permit June 5 (came in mail 2ish weeks later).

Tried called August 11, no one available. Called again the next day and same answer. Called back August 15, same thing. Called again August 21 and got through but then was disconnected (my luck right?) so I sent the email.

Email response was today (Sept 8) just explaining the process of the medical exam. I even said in my email that I needed an absolute answer as our application was riding on what information they could provide for us (if we could do the Oct 2 date, if we needed to find a doctor in Kamloops or if we needed to go to Vancouver to do it). Instead I got here's how to complete a medical exam, you have 30 days, blah blah blah.

Didn't send the exact story but it was longer. Do you think it'll be an issue that the deadline will have passed by then? I will send another today.

It shouldn't be an issue if you applied for the extension before the deadline was up. Don't bother calling the CIC hot line those people cant do anything for you.

There is no dmp in Kamloops.

Is your deadline Sept 10? It might be too late, but try calling doctors in Vancouver, Surrey, Richmond (Don't bother calling Dr Reznik in Burnaby (his office is now closed)). There were some stories on these forum from people who missed their deadlines (did not notice the e-mail etc) and everything was ok for them. But the sooner you have the tests done the sooner the visa can be issued.

It will not be an issue. You should send a Webform explaining that you were only able to get the appointment Oct 2nd. IRCC knows that the Panel Physicians can be backed up, so as long as you make them aware of the delay, they are fine with it.

my scenario is that we were only told about medical exam request three weeks prior to the 30 days deadline. They sent us the request form August 2 2019 already, that was Friday in the afternoon in the Philippines, because we did not received any email from Centralized Intake Office about the said Medical request and Biometrics Fee request.. And at the end of the email they wrote " must comply within 30 days from the time of this letter" but the form that they re-send was actually dated July 8,2019. So my son in the Philippines was stopped by the medical officer in Manila and was asked to submit a copy of the late email from the Manila Visa Office and an explanation letter before letting him proceed with the Medical Exam, only because the request was dated July 8, 2019 and it was past 30 days.
