Medical Exam

Does anyone know why the physician requests to be paid in cash for the exam? Is this legal? It seems strange to me.

My doctor would only accept cash...and the radiology clinic (in the same building) also only accepted cash...as well as the lab (yes...in the same building) only accepted cash.

What I find even more `strange', is that the medical results are sent to Australia first and then CIC accesses the information from their system. :-\
Apparently CIC somehow piggy-backs off the Australian system.

I was just wondering if anyone knew the reason for this.

This made me curious, so I looked it up and found that its not the Australian system but a joint technology for both countries to reduce processing times..

It's pretty straightforward...

You will need a medical exam if you:

have lived temporarily for six or more consecutive months
- in one or more of these countries or territories http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/medical/dcl.asp
- in the one year immediately before the date you want to enter Canada. (This applies even if you are a citizen of a country that does not need a visa to enter Canada.)

The part that confused me is that on the following page it says the above conditions only apply if there's a 'yes' in the third column of the country I've spent 6 months of the last year in. There's a 'no'.

So while that means those conditions (one is staying over 6 months) therefore don't apply, it also seems that it doesn't matter where I'm from, if I plan to stay over 6 months in Canada I need a medical exam.

Under Canada’s immigration law, you must have a medical exam if you:

want to come to Canada for more than six months, and
have lived or travelled for six months in a country or territory listed below in the year before you come to Canada.


Note the use of the word AND, meaning that BOTH conditions must be met to need a medical.

The "No" in the third column means that the second condition does not apply and you therefore do not need a medical.

Most offices don't have payment machines . This is not typical to pay at the Dr office . These Dr's just don't do medicals for CIC they see other patients . Even my regular Dr only takes cash if i have to pay for injections I pay under $ 200.00 for every thing in Kitchener Ontario. My husband just paid over 350.00 sterling in the U.k. thats nearly $600 Canadian .

I just kept thinking something felt illegal about only accepting cash. I guess it does make sense because it is like paying, "out of pocket". A term we use in the States when insurance doesn't cover something.

Our only took cash (Kitchener, ON) and we got a receipt from both the physician and radiology portions.

Hello friends

i have applied for spousal application in march 2015 and successfully approved by CPC-M and they send file to new delhi. my wife completed her medical exam on 15 july. i just checked my online status, its said " in Process" but didn't said medical received. i am so much worried about it.
its only 2 week after i seen status changed. how do i contact cic at new delhi and make sure they got all necessary document or not ??

plz, advise me, what should i do??
