Medical Exam - what should we be prepared for?

Hello,

My wife's medical exam is on Friday, and I was wondering what she should be prepared for? My understanding is that we need to bring the form that IRCC emailed to us, and my wife's passport, and aside from that, we don't really need much.

That being said, what do they do? Do they ask questions? My wife has some anxiety and takes medication for it, but we didn't mention that when we submitted our original application. Will that be a big deal? I'm assuming that she should be fully transparent throughout the medical exam.

Also - we recently submitted her biometrics as a USCIS facility in the United States here. Do we need to take any additional steps on that, or will her info all be communicated electronically?

My medical exam in BC was really simple and fast. Give them your IRCC medical exam request form email and passport, fill out a couple of pages of standard medical questions (allergies, medical history, etc.).

During the exam, my doctor asked me just a few questions (current medications, etc.), checked my blood pressure, listened to my heart and lungs, and probed just a bit on my stomach. Then I got a chest X-ray and provided a blood and urine sample. Because of covid, there is no body examinations that require removing any clothing unless it's a sleeve that impedes the blood pressure band.

Your wife should absolutely tell the doctor about the anxiety medications she's taking, and anything else related to a medical exam (hey doc, it hurts when I go like this...). For spousal PR applications your wife can only be refused for something serious, like AIDS, or TB, or severe mental health issues that could endanger Canadians - garden-variety anxiety issues will have no impact on any decisions IRCC will make.

If your application is inland, the IRCC will notify your wife with an official request via email to obtain biometrics from an authorized facility near you. Not sure about outland applications, sorry.

The whole exam should take 30 minutes or so and be stress free.
