Hi there,

I am trying to figure out when to do the medical. The immigration helpline people tell me to do the exam before i submit the application ( as it says on the document checklist) but my local certified doctor says that i have to make the application first then they will send me the correct forms to bring with me to the exam.

He said it was because i need to have a client ID number so that they will be able to match up my results with my application.

Both parties seemed equally adamant that they were correct , obviously I would rather trust the helpline people but I spoke to the doctor twice and he said he would not book an appointment for me because i had not applied yet!

If it is a spousal application, you do the medical first. The DMP should have the form IMM 1017 ECE and you send the receipt portion with the application. If the DMP doesn't understand this, then find another.

PMM, (or anyone else that may have the answer)
Im in the same boat as the OP. We have our medical scheduled for next Friday and plan to submit the full application over the Christmas break. The DMP told me that they will give us a receipt but will send the medical records directly to the governement. My question is, if our application has been received yet by the time the medical gets there how will they know to match it up to us?
Does the DMP also give us back the original appendix so that we can submit with our paperwork?

Im really unsure about this...especially since the first DMP we were going to see told us to wait until medical reports were requested... (i really wasnt comfortable with that situation either so booked the test asap)

Anyones help would really be so greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much for your time
Amanda

For outland spousal sponsorship you do the medical before you submit the application. The DMP will fill out a paper with your picture taped to it. I assume that they put some sort of identifying number on that sheet. They then give you a carbon copy of that, which you include in your application. That is how they match you up with your medical results. If the DMP thinks that you do the medical once it's requested, it's because they are used to doing FSW stream, not family class.

If they really don't seem to know what they're doing, find someone else if you can. Don't be afraid to correct them and check the paper work, before you leave the office.

Perfect thank you.

We already changed DMP from the first and closer office due to them giving us wrong information so im confident we will be fine with the new docs office...
I just wanted the peace of mind knowing what my husband needs to do before he makes the 4.5 hr trip to Miami! :)

Thanks again for you help, very much appreciated.

i have the same questions as yours dati, my husband submitted our application forms last aug it was returned as it was incomplete daw, they require the Form IMM 1017 (copy 2)---medical report form. I have not accomplished such form yet bec i've known from my cousins na later pa hihingin yun, i believe nagbago cla ng procedure now, they want talaga complete.

My advise for you guys is to have your medical prior to submission of your documents.

i took my medical exam at SCTS---after the exam they gave me Copy 2 of form IMM1017 and appendix c, which I sent to my husband right away....

im not pretty sure where the DMP will send it , it's either sa reg'l headquarters (as stated in the form) or sa Canadian Embassy, anyway since attached sa application form natin yung Copy 2, mamamatched naman nila yan sa medical file natin here(Copy 1).... hope this helps you

Let's pray for speedy processing of our application. God bless!

@alf, if i were u pamed ka na muna before u send ur application.. kasi in my case, we submitted our application kit to cpc-m without medical as we are not aware of it and that makes me worry after i read in this forum that we need to take a medical first before sending the package kit..We are also expecting that they will return our application but after 65 days my sponsor(hubby) rcvd an email from cpc-m that he was eligible to sponsor and our file was already forwarded to visa office in manila ( very considerate VO namin..hehe) . kaya i rushed na agad sa Nationwide to undergo my med na with my appendix C October 21. According to Nationwde my medical file was sent to embassy November 10.

I received my PPR letter Nov.11 with additional docs requested ( AOM, passport, appendix A and medical request that i need to take a medical within 45 days).. I sent all the requested docs mentioned Nov 14 with a letter informing them that i had my medicals done enclosed the copy-2 as proof.... eCAS update on November 18 showing MEDICALS HAVE BEEN RECEIVED.

** mabuti na lang mabait ang VO na humahawak sa namin ko, kasi nabasa ko sa iba ibinabalik pag walang medical..

..now waiting for my visa to comeout! sleepless nights after sending my passport.. GOD BLESS sa ating lahat

Yeah, no worries. The medical is kind of an ordeal, especially for the person getting examined :p
I would definitely advise your husband to call the office to make sure he knows what he needs to bring and make sure what they say matches up with the guide. Also, check the paperwork. The DMP who did my partner's exam was very nice, but she almost left out what visa office we were going through on the paperwork, she only noticed when I corrected her!

Good luck! :)

just have a question bout medicals...were applying for my husbands spouse status from outside of Canada and in the midst of getting everything together-when we send in all the papers together, do we tell the medical office we are mailing them to Alberta Canada(where it says to mail the forms) or London UK(the closest Canadian High Commision from Dublin)?

If you are outland you should be sending your entire application to Mississauga, Ontario. The Vegreville, Alberta CPC is for inland applications only. The DMP should put London, UK on the form where it asks for what Visa Office the application will be going through because that is where your application will be forwarded to once the sponsor is approved in Mississauga.

I'm asking this question for someone else who is stressed out right now due to the fact that the photos used on the medical exam are different than the ones that the sponsor took back to Canada to complete the application... They initially had 12 photos taken. She took 8 that are needed for the application papers and her husband took 4 for the medical exam. Before the medical, the doctor's office told him he needed to have 5 photos for the medical exam and so he went and got 5 more taken at another photo place and returned to receive his medical exam. Now his sponsor is worried because she's finishing up the application now in Canada and has 8 different photos than the ones used for the medical exam. Is it ok to have different sets of photos? It could be very difficult for them to go reprints of the same photos used in the medical exam as this one done in a city 4 hours away from the applicant's city as there is only one designated DMP for the whole country for Canadian PR applicants.

So, long story short, do the photos have to be the same that are used for the medical as they are when submitting the PR application package? Does it state it somewhere in the guides?

Thanks.

No, they don't need to be exactly the same throughout. It is enough for the 4/5/whatever is required by your Regional guide for the medical to be the same, and the 8/9/whatever is required by your Regional guide for the application to be the same.

Ok thanks. I'll let her know. It's from Dominican Republic so I imagine it would be the same regional guide as Jamaica being the Caribbean.

Ahh, in that case, then yes. I did one set for the medicals, and then another set for the PR application about a month later when I was ready to send it, had no issues with that being accepted.
