Hey everyone,

My wife landed in Canada on Jan 9th and applied for an inland PR in Feb. We recieved a one year visitors record and we applied for my wife to recieve an alberta health care number and was approved (was so easy the registry didnt even ask for a wedding certificate because they said common law relationships occur with them all the time and it is no big deal), so my wife has all the same health benefits as I do. We do not have medical insurance through a third party at the moment.

When we eventually recieve our medical request we did some research and found a doctor who does the MR for $250 but this does not include xrays and lab tests. If she has a health care number, this should be automatically covered, correct? I checked the alberta website and xrays, lab tests are covered but unsure if because this is for government purposes that it would cost money.

Thanks!

You should expect these costs will not be covered since they are not required for medical purposes but for immigration purposes.
