Hello,
I am new here and have probably a simple question.
Is it ok to have my medical exam completed before submitting my application? I have it scheduled for tomorrow my my application will probably be mailed in the next 3 weeks or so. I am not sure of the doctor's timeline in submitting the results/his report.
I would hate for the medical results to be thrown out because I do not have a "case number" or file already established because my application was not there yet. Not to mention the expense of doing it again.
Any insight is appreciated.
Thank you!

There's no problem with doing it in advance. Just make sure to mail in the form the doctors give you with your application.

A lot of members will say to include it in your application but my lawyer had advised me and my husband to wait until I got approved as a sponsor to do it... When I received the letter stating I was approved it said to forward the medical to the visa office in Kingston, Jamaica. Thank god for us doing it that way as my husband got his visa at the beggining of the month and if he wouldn't of waited to do it... things would of got complicated cause he would of had a small amount of time to land or they may have requested to redo one.....

So from my experience I would recommend wait until they request it, this way it may give you an extra 2 months or so.... If you visa office process application quickly then you can go now but if it takes a while I would personally wait...

Please quote this is my experience and opinion...

Hi mala,

Actually we have the same situation, my husband is about to send my application on the 2nd week of May and he told me to do the medical on May and I dont need to wait for the medical request. But my concern is medical has an expiration of 6 months so we decided to wait for medical request before doing it to be sure.

1) Medical results are valid for 1 year.
2) Best to check your region specific guides. Normally for sponsoring family, providing proof of medical is required to send with the entire application upfront.

EDIT: Forgot this.

@ mala: It doesn't matter if you get your medical done just before submitting your application. Yes, it will probably take the doctor awhile to get the results back, and then a bit longer for him to courier it all to the regional medical center. But it doesn't matter, because all YOU need to provide in your application is the little slip he'll give you to prove you did your medical. When the visa office finally gets your file (way after Mississauga does) and needs your medical, they will use that slip you sent them to request your medical results from the regional medical center.

So don't worry about the doctor getting the results "late" and sending them in later. He sends them to the right place, your visa office requests it from them, done. It actually usually delays things to put off doing your medical.

You got lucky. Or your lawyer had a fancy way of explaining why the medical was not included with the application package. I wouldn't advise other posters to do this. There have been too many applications that have been returned by CPC Mississauga because they were incomplete for not including the receipt for the medical exam.

I Have done my medicals 2 weeks before sending the application. I applied inland in july 2010. In my checklist it was required to include the proof of medicals in the application
