My wife is making an appt for her medical and the office requests 2 passport size photos. We are in the States. Can we use US passport size photos or must we get Canadian size photos?

yes, you can use regular us passport photos. if you're members of AAA, you can get them for free.

Hey. When I applied for my daughter's Certificate of Citizenship, I had to get Canadian-size passport photos, which are slightly different. That is why I was wondergin about the medical exam photos.

Really? Free from AAA? How so? Do you just go to an office? And are you 100% sure the medical exam uses US-size passport photos?

Thanks again!

yes, i used regular passport photos from AAA for every part of my application, and had no issues. yes, as part of the AAA membership, you can get 1 set of passport photos for free at each visit. you go into the location that offers the service and show them your aaa card. if you want more than 1 set at the same visit, i believe it's $6 for each additional set. what i would do if i needed multiple sets is go in on different days, so i never actually paid for pictures.

Hey. That's great news. And you used US-size passport photos even for the application itself? Do you know if the application specifies Canadian-size photos? I'm just wondering if they definintely specifiy something and you just got lucky, or if it doesn't matter.

Thanks again!

the application asks for "immigration" size photos which apparently are different than standard us passport photos. i did not know this when i submitted my application. all i know is that my pictures looked like the example given in the instructions, so i sent them in. i have no idea if they were the right size when i sent them in (because i didn't measure), whether they cut them down to size for me or if i just got "lucky". also, i still am waiting for my PR card, and there is always the chance I will get a request for new pictures. only time will tell...
