Hello,

I was diagnosed with pulmonary TB 4 years ago. I had undergone treatment and am completely rid of it at present. But, it has left a huge scar in my left lung. I will be applying for Canada student visa. I will be doing a medical for visa in about 2 weeks and then submit my Visa application. Will this scar weigh down heavily on my application? How should I mention it in my SOP?

Please advise.

As long as it is about whether you should tell them about the past TB history or not, while you will be filling out the application forms for the study visa there is a question about tuberculosis in the first part of Background information section. So my advice is that you should be honest with your profile, it will help you in the future.

Yes, I would definitely be informing about TB history in the form. It is about how much will it affect my application (when I am not actively infected at present)? And can I somehow address it in my SOP so as to maybe mitigate its effects? I don't even know if I am making sense! I am desperate! :(

There is no point in addressing it in your SOP; the person reviewing your app has nothing to do with the decision on your medical situation.

A medical officer will look at the results and decide whether you need further testing to ensure that you are not actively infected.
