I would like to go to india to make a visit soon after my graduation in May 2014. Since my study permit is dated till dec 2014 would there be any problem when returning.

I waited till I received my PGWP. I'm not too sure if one can travel back with a valid SP even though s/he has graduated; but I didn't want to take any chance. You can say you're back to attend your convocation if you don't possess any other permit.
FYI, you must have a valid TRV/Visa for any scenario in order to enter Canada.
