My new application for a visa to visit Canada is denied for a reason of Family ties in Canada and in country of residence. I was given a four-year visa in 2012 that expired in 2016 and visited my daughter in Canada twice. Now she is expecting her 2nd baby and needs me back to help her look after the kids. I submitted both our birth certificates as proof of our mother-daughter relationship. I don't understand what 'Family ties in Canada and in country of residence' really mean.

It means your ties to Canada are too strong and you haven't demonstrated strong enough ties to your home country. CIC is concerned you are coming to Canada as more than a visitor and have plans to remain long term. Additionally, coming to Canada for the purpose of taking care of your daughter's children is something that may be seeing as working without authorization by CIC.

If you want to reapply, I would recommend you demonstrate much stronger ties to your home country and make sure you keep your requested visit relatively short (i.e. a few weeks).

Actually, I had full scholarship to study MA program at Brock University. I did apply to Canada when i was applying to other countries. But before Canada's offer could come, I gained an admission to study in Thailand. At the moment I am in Thailand (where I am planning to submit online application) and NOT in GHANA. There are some questions like CURRENT COUNTRY OF RESIDENT (state the country) and STATUS IN THAT COUNTRY, thus, either CITIZEN, PERMANENT RESIDENT, VISITOR, WORKER, STUDENT, OTHER, PROTECTED PERSON or REFUGEE CLAIMANT (choose from these). One needs to also indicate the time span of stay in current country, thus, FROM: TO:
Another question is COUNTRY WHERE APPLYING FROM(indicate YES OR NO if the country is the same as above). Then, the time ; FROM: TO:

Now, I would like to know how to handle above questions given the fact that I am not in my home country and also that I am already studying in another country.

In case, I indicate THAILAND (as my current country) and also indicate STUDENT. How will I justify that? Won't it affect my chances of securing a student permit?

Please, I need your advice on this. Because of that I could not continue with my online application until I get advice before.
