Hi,

There are quite few Universities (not very low in grade/rank) providing GMAT waiver in case an applicant holds many years of work experience (usually 7+ years). University of New Brunswick is one such example.

1. Athabasca University - The GMAT is not required

2. Laurentian University - The GMAT is only needed for applicants from an honours program in Commerce who have graduated with a 75% or better average but who have less than 2 years of work experience. In this case, a minimum score of 500 is needed

3. Vancouver Island University - No GMAT score is required

4. Royal Roads University - No GMAT score is required.

5. University of Guelph - GMAT is not required but the Admissions Committee reserves the right to request one be taken in certain circumstances.

6. University of Lethbridge - A minimum score of of 550 on the GMAT is required; equivalent exams, like the Graduate Record Examination (GRE), may be taken instead where circumstances warrant such a substitution.

I personally think if someone is planning to study abroad and especially when they are planning to invest huge amount on studies getting GMAT is a good idea because it opens almost all pathways for you in Management programs.
Also note that:-

Laurentian University
University of Lethbridge
University of Guelph

All three universities require GMAT for their business programs.

Hi,

I quote, “I personally think if someone is planning to study abroad and especially when they are planning to invest huge amount on studies getting GMAT is a good idea because it opens almost all pathways for you in Management programs.

Well, I agreed 100 percent. No question of skipping GMAT. After all it's for students benefit. MBA is not just an educational degree; it's about experience...a cumulative experience of life. So, think at least thrice before anyone decides to go for it. MBA involves significant investment of money and time. Better to be fully prepared with GMAT and other stuff. In my case, it took me over 1 year just to secure admission in a MBA school.

Well, here I would like to clarify few things.

1. University of Guelph – GMAT is not required. Only in few restricted cases, the admissions official might request for a GMAT.

2. University of Lethbridge – GMAT can be skipped if you have GRE test score.

3. Laurentian University – GMAT is optional, means you can skip if you are confident enough with your profile and credentials. The GMAT is only needed for applicants who have less than 2 years of work experience.

GMAT & GRE are both tests to get admission in Management and Engineering programs and required by almost all universities these days in Canada & America.

University of Lethbridge
University of Guelph
Laurentian University

I contracted these universities management faculty for information and they clearly states that they require GMAT for Master programs, and there are no exceptions.
