Hi,

My original qualifications are from Australia (I am a Medical Radiation Technologist) but I have since sat exams in Canada & so have Canadian qualifiations aswell. So I presume there is no need to get my credentials assessed.

BUT I read that you need to get your foreign work experience assessed also. 9 years of work experience is from Australia & the UK. Only 1 year is from Canada. Will I need to go through the process of getting my work experience assessed. Is there such a thing? I am petrified of sending my application incorrectly & it being sent back!

Thanks in advance for any help. I really appreciate it.
Stuart.

No one can answer your question. The credential assessment requirements haven't been published yet by CIC.

We don't know all the details about assessment yet. But, based on currently available info, these are my thoughts:
1. The assessment that needs to be done is for your educational credentials or your degrees. So, if it received outside Canada, you will need to get it assessed. I don't know if at a later point, CIC will add a clause about not requiring such assessment if you already have canadian license to practise the profession. But, so far, there isn't such exception.

2. The assessment is for your degrees alone, involving evaluation of your transcripts and diplomas, and not for the work experience, unless they change something later on.

By the way, can you not apply through the CEC? Since you already have canadian work experience, CEC might be the best way for you if you qualify.

Thanks for your replies. Will take advice on board.
Technically my Canadian work experience was only 11 months not 12 so possibly that is enough fine print not to qualify for CEC.
Maybe I should still get my Australian credentials assessed to be on the safe side but will wait to see the wording once all the info comes out.
Thanks again.

11 months is not 12 so it doesn't qualify for CEC.
