Maternity leave

I am Paramjit kaur. I just want to confirm can I get maternity leave or how long can I take. Like I applied my PR file in June and I got file number in dec last.file process is I think 12-18 month. But I am pregnant and my delivery date is may 12th 2021. I am not sure is I m able to get maternity leave for 4-6 month or not. But I m doing job at same place from jan 2019. I think I complete my 52 hours but I don’t know Can I take maternity leave for 6 month or not or I have to continue my job after my delivery. Please let me know,

You should be eligible. It is based on the number of hours you worked in a given period and is taxed.

Maternity EI payment is not your full salary so I would make sure you look at how much you'll be receiving so you can save and budget. Would also suggest looking at the cost of diapers, formula in case you need it, car seats, etc. because they may be more expensive than in your home country. If you need daycare when you go back to work you should start looking before you have your baby and put your name down once you have your baby. There are often wait lists. If you have an extended benefit plan you may be able to get a breast pump rental for free.
