Hi

I have passed the chartered accountancy course from india and claimed 25 points (equivalent to masters degree) I also have an email from the ca institute stating it as a masters degree equivalent.

I received further information request from cic where they asked for copy of degree from ca institute. So is it that they will consider ca degree as masters degree.

Senior Members please comment.

Thanks in advance!

I have no experience in this but i do think they will give you 25 points if you show them a masters degree certificate.

Hi,

In India, CIC looks at AICTE recognition and if equivalent consideration of masters if given by CA institute and AICTE recognizes it then it should be 25 points and if not then it should be 22 points.

Rocky - how do you know CIC looks at AICTE only? This might help someone else wondering about a hotel institute that is recognized by ministry of tourism but we were not sure how AICTE looks at it.

Its as per my understanding. In India AICTE regulates, not UGC. So I/O has a list and its as per country specific regulators. Now in India its AICTE who is the regulator so that is my understanding as per the rules in FSW manual.

Correct me if i am wrong in understanding the FSW manual as i am sure about AICTE thing.

Thanks. It makes sense from an 'American' perspective. For example a CFA is considered equivalent to a masters and some universities might accept it as a masters but it is not a university as defined by the regional regulators so it cannot be a masters.
