Hi there, I've read lots of cases in this forum but my situation is kinda unique. I was hoping anyone here can help us out.

I am a Vietnamese citizen and my boyfriend is Canadian. My boyfriend will come to Vietnam and we are planing to do only our wedding reception in Vietnam in April (not official marriage certificate). Then i will flight there (as a visitor) with my boyfriend In May and get our marriage certificate done in Canada and apply for the Inland application. But there are some issues we are worried about:
1/ should we lie to the border that i just come to visit him (since i will be flighting with him) and didnt metion about our marriage ?
2/ if i tell the border the truth that im gonna get married there and if the application gets rejected i will go back ( im holding a return ticket in Sep), would they let me in the country or would they refuse and send me back to Vietnam right away ?
3/ if we do our marriage certificate here in Vietnam, and get it translated, is it possible for us to apply for the inland still?

I will deeply appreciate all of your advice. Thank you for your time and your help.
Christine

You should never lie, you dont need to mention the marriage, but if they ask, you need to be honest. You're still going to try for inland despite the fact that you dont need to return home to get your PR visa when applying outland?

Also you should know that inland applicants are generally not permitted to leave the country for long periods of time, and if they reject your application, you cannot appeal.

No, you can do inland while married somewhere else, only requirement is you are legally married (has to be a legally recognized marriage), and that you are here as visitor

But really I think just go with outland, my Vietnamese wife got her visa in just 6 months, and she got a visitor visa to see me before then

Thats great. But now im just worried about how to deal with the border officials. Like if i tell them im going to travel there to get married will they refuse to let me in even though i have a return ticket ?

There's a good possibility they might refuse entry, because visitors are supposed to show they are only here temporarily. Applying inland allows you to remain here indefinitely until PR, which might not show that you're going to be here temporarily. However, it's anyone's guess what will happen.

You should definitely be honest because they are trained to see if you're lying just by the answers you're giving, and they can refuse you entry if they see you're not honest
