Hey everyone I'm new here. I went to canada on a visitors visa and did not renew it and was in the country for 8yrs. Within that time I had a son who is here in jamaica with me bc I got full custody in Canada for him. I had applied for status on H&C grounds but got refused so I was given a voluntary leave and I left canada voluntarily. I was living with my then boyfriend now husband because he came to Jamaica and married me. We have been married now for 2 yrs and 2 mths and we have a 9 soon 10mths old daughter whom we're
Now appling for her citizenship certificate. My husband is sponsoring me and he got a letter that the application for sponsorship was approved and sent to kingston for processing. I sent in canadian police check and medical. Do I stand a chance? Iso worried I miss my husband like crazy

Yes, you have a chance. Even people who have been convicted of serious crimes can be sponsored, it is just that the process is more complicated and will take longer. Your problems are the overstay and being asked to leave. Fortunately you left voluntarily. I would expect a longer than average processing time and being asked to an interview, but with lots of evidence that your relationship is genuine, you may very well succeed.

Thank you. My son asks me everyday when is he going home, sometimes feel like I would just melt .

Hi Divinity,

Gosh that sounds like a very difficult situation to be in, I hope and pray everything will clear without any problems. very soon. Keep the faith :). And I think you stand a chance ofcourse you do.

Your chances are good, you wil need to complete ARC which cost $400.00' ( they will tell you when )
My husband too was deported after living in Canada for 12 years (no criminal record) his refugee claimant was refused and he did not leave when he should have and was picked up and detained by CIC until deportation. He did pay his own way back (purchased his own ticket to return )

I meet my husband in 2011 and after 2 years into our relationship we starting planning for our 2014 summer wedding, but unfortunately he got deported in that same year and all plans for a Canadain base wedding took place in our country "Guyana" due to the fact - that's were he was now living now !!!

I can understand how you and your child feels - but I honestly believe you are good. Especially after you left on your own.

Good luck !!
