Hi,

My husband and I have been married for 4 years. i sponsored him to Canada and he landed and got his PR in June 2012. He has been living in Toronto since then.

We couldnt work out our differences and now i want a divorce. We have been physically separated for almost 13 months.

If i file.for a divorce, will he face trouble with his PR or when applying for citizenship? I don't have the heart to screw up his application, he's been through hell.

Any legal advice is appreciated.

There will be no impact on his PR if you divorce. If anything only you can be at a disadvantage if he goes for social security benefits. If he does, the Govt will expect you to foot the bill as you have a 36 month undertaking from the day he becomes PR.

It will make absolutely no difference to his PR or citizenship chances.
