Hello friends,

I am new to this forum, kindly need an advice. I am from India and have been married for past 5 years. But me and my wife have been staying apart for almost an year now due to marital problems. We have not yet applied for divorce. I wish to apply for Canada immigration for better career prospects, but I need advice on how should I go ahead. Is there any possibility that I can apply for immigration alone yet married? Is there any exception on such a situation? Or the only option is to file for divorce and then apply for Canada immigration.

Please help.

Thanks.

If there is no possibility of reconciliation with your wife, you would need to be officially separated or divorced to apply as single. Documentary proof is required in both cases.

If you think there is a possibility of reconciliation in the future, you could apply as married, with your wife as a non-accompanying dependent.
