I live in Quebec and I have recently married my boyfriend of only two months. He's American and I have dual citizenship. We have decided to reside in Canada. I understand that I need to sponsor my husband. He crosses the border every day to see me, and lives and works in the US. I read somewhere that I need to file an application outside the country?

Where do I start? Do I file the application right away or do I wait since we just got married this past week? What kind of proof is required to show that we have a valid relationship?

What forms do I need to file? Also once I file for PR, will my husband be denied entry to come see me?

Thanks

There is a lot of documentation for you to gather, and some of it will take time to get.

Yes, you need to apply outland because he is living outside of Canada.

Follow the link in the post above. You can file your app as soon as you have your marriage certificate.

The application lists the required proofs.

Forms are listed in the application.

He should have no issues continuing to visit you. He should carry proof of the PR app and proof of ties to the US. If he doesn't already have a NEXUS card, he really should apply for one.
