Married after getting ITA, before e-APR.

Hi All,

I entered EE pool in the second week of Jan 2020 and got ITA on Jan 23rd. I was not able to complete eAPR before my marriage date which was Feb 20th. So at the time of my eAPR, my marital status has changed from Single to Married. I did apply for PR and got my AOR on April 9th.

Questions that I have are:

1. In PR application, I have filled in the details earlier before marriage and was waiting on police clearance, so missed to change the marital status when I submitted the application. Should I withdraw the application now or write to CIC notifying about the change in status?

2. As I read in other threads, my CRS score would subject to change, if marital status changes after ITA before eAPR. If this is the case, what is the best course of action that you would suggest/recommend me to do?

Please advice.

Thanks!

You claimed your points while in "single" status. Do your points decrease when you calculate with the spouse on your application?

If this is lower than the CRS cut-off on the day you got ITA, you won't pass the eligibility.
In any case you have to report your change of status. Or just decline the ITA, change your details and wait for another ITA

Thanks for your response.

Yes, if I recalculate with accompanying spouse, the points are decreasing and it is lower than the CRS cut-off on the day I got ITA.
As I have already submitted the application, I do not see an option to decline the invite.

At this point, to report the change of status, how can I do it? Is there an email address to which I can write to?

Appreciate your support.

I suggest you consult an immigration attorney. The case you described can be seen as misrepresentation and you can be denied PR and that won't look good on your future applications.

I am not sure how you managed to "not be able to" change your file from Feb 20th until April.

This is something you should take seriously. If you get a PR and then try to sponsor your spouse, the officers can actually see when you got married and when you submitted your application.
