Hi,
I would appreciate any insight...
A friend of mine is getting married to her boyfriend who is in Canada on a Study Permit.
How can he apply for her to join him here?
is it through a visitors visa?
Thank you

two options
TRV or open work permit......she can apply for a visitors visa and will get visitors permit at POE for the duration of his study permit or she can apply for work permit. just keep in mind spouse visas are a bit difficult . so good luck

I would think the open work permit is a bit easier because she would be able to support herself financially, and also, because of her occupation, she might be an asset to the Canadian work market.

From reading other forum posts i understand its very difficult to obtain TRVs...Lets say if she gets rejected for a TRV does that decrease of her chances of getting approved for a study permit?
Its playing all these little mind games with CIC...

No, it won't decrease her chance if she clears the rejection reason and try for study permit

do you guys know that for a TRV is it only valid for 6 months?
or if she gets approved will it be for the duration of her husband's study permit?

for the TRV does she have to show financial back up from her husband in Canada or from her home country?
thank you

if she gets a TRV she will have to show marriage cert and other docs at port of entry and they will issue visitors permit for the duration of his study permit.
yes she has to show good financial standing that is what is gonna make her case strong. it can be either from her husband or home country or both more the better.

mead will they look only at her husbands account in canada, from the link you gave me it states they require 14000 dollars in his account? or a combination of both accounts?
she has a job in iran, and also owns property in iran...do you think that is sufficient to prove that after her husbands study ends she plans to come back to iran?

I think there're no guarantees that she will be allowed to stay the duration of his study permit. A friend's wife came to Canada and her passport was stamped the same date she had the ticket back home.
